At the end of August, we took Otis on his first camping trip. We spent the weekend at Bodega Dunes with the Hill family. It was just a one night adventure to test the waters, and it was a huge success! Tents are giant forts. Dirt is the coolest place to play with tractors and dump trucks. And sand- I mean, the possibilities are endless. The one low point was when I was straining the pasta I made for dinner and accidentally dumped it on the dirt. Yes- expletives were uttered (yelled, if I am honest), but no one starved. We are excited to make the Moore/Hill Camping Trip a yearly extravaganza!
On our first walk to the beach both kiddos fell asleep. Abby was in the backpack and Otis was in Brad’s arms. We transferred him to me and I found a log to lean against. I was just sitting relaxing with a sleeping boy on me when we first spotted the dolphins. Not a bad way to spend nap time- watching 3 dolphins play in the waves!
We enjoyed our time around the campfire. Jen made popcorn!
Otis played his tiny guitar!
And all of us enjoyed some card games!
Some sleep was had and the next day we made a return trip to the beach with two awake toddlers. They found a giant hole in the sand!
And then Otis put the moves on Abby.
She wasn’t so sure at the beach, but she shared her food pouch with him later, so I think his chances are improving.
Hooray for camping!
