Well buddy boy- today you reached the 5 month mark. Your dad and I are sitting here (while you nurse) reminiscing about the last month and all the new experiences and accomplishments that happened during it.
This month we discovered a bit more about which genes you got from your dad and which ones from me. From me you seem to have inherited a knack for being a ham. You love attention!!!! This weekend Grammie, Grampie, Uncle Greg, and Megan visited. You would flash a cheeky grin at one of them and then spin your head around to entertain another. You were basking in their attentiveness and put on quite a show.
You took your first strums on the bazouki this month demonstrating that you share your dad’s love of music. You are also in awe of the ukulele.
But perhaps the thing you most obviously have in common with your dad is hair that has a mind of its own. It won’t be parted. It won’t stay flat. And, no matter how often I wash it, there is still the occasional dreadlock.
You also inherited your Dad’s eyelashes!
We rang in the New Year like champs. Dad played a gig with his band and was out until 2am. You and I partied until you went to sleep at 7pm and then I watched Bridget Jone’s Diary in bed. Oh yeah!
This month I went back to work full-time. 4 days a week you go to daycare at Tia’s and seem to really like it. You and I get to play in the morning and then I drop you off at 11. Dad picks you up around 5 and chills with you til bedtime. You also get to hang out with dad all day on Saturday. Pretty cool. You eat like a champ at daycare, keeping my pump busy and, as a result, you’ve put on a tiny bit of girth. You are still tall and svelte but are bulking up a bit for the ladies.
You’ve added a few solids to your diet. We started with rice cereal and then moved on to sweet potatoes. This resulted in the 11 day poop strike of 2015 so we decided maybe you weren’t ready for the good stuff yet. We gave you a two week hiatus and now you are on to sweet peas. You are not entirely sure about them.
Everything you could do at 4 months you do better and faster now. Your eyes follow us around the room, your hands deftly find whatever it is they want, and you finally remembered that you know how to roll over. Now if only we can get you to sleep for longer stretches. You still prefer to get up every 3 hours or so. Maybe by month 6 I’ll have better news on that front.
You have the most delightful temperament and personality. You laugh often and smile almost incessantly and it is absolutely contagious. You really and truly light up our life and inspire us to share your wonder in this world. We love you so much!
